Cookie policy

1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. When you return, the browser sends the file back, which lets the site recognise the same visit or remember a preference you set.

Similar technologies — local storage, session storage and tracking pixels — work differently but raise the same questions. Where we use any of them, they are covered by this policy.

2. Cookies used on this site

The table below lists every cookie this site may set.

Name	Purpose and duration
ofor_session	Strictly necessary. Keeps a form submission attached to the right visit and protects forms against cross-site request forgery. Expires when you close the browser.
ofor_prefs	Preference. Remembers choices you set yourself, such as dismissing a notice. Set only when you make a choice. Expires after 6 months.
_pa_visit	Analytics. Counts a visit and the pages viewed within it, without identifying you or following you to other websites. Expires after 24 hours.

We set no cookies for advertising, remarketing, profiling or audience selling, and we do not embed social media buttons that would set them on our behalf.

3. Third-party content

Two elements of this site load from outside our servers:

• Google Fonts supplies the two typefaces used across the site. Font files are requested by your browser from Google’s servers; no cookie is set by us for this purpose.
• The embedded map on the contact page is provided by Google Maps and may set its own cookies once the map loads. The map appears only on that page. If you would rather not load it, our full address and directions are printed in text beside it.

4. Analytics

We use a privacy-respecting analytics service configured to store no personal data. It records the page requested, the referring source and a coarse country-level location, and it does not build a profile or follow visitors between sites.

The figures tell us which resources are actually used, which is how we decide what to revise first. Aggregate totals appear in our annual review; no individual visit is ever reported.

5. Server logs

Separately from cookies, our web server records standard access logs: a truncated IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and the browser identification string.

Logs are used to diagnose faults and detect abuse, are not combined with any other data set, and are deleted after thirty days.

6. Controlling cookies in your browser

You can block or delete cookies at any time. Every current browser lets you refuse all cookies, refuse third-party cookies only, delete cookies on exit, or clear those already stored. The settings live under Privacy, Privacy and security, or a similarly named menu.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the enquiry form from submitting. Nothing else on this site depends on cookies, and all educational content remains fully readable with cookies disabled.

7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Where your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, our analytics service does not record the visit. You do not need to take any further action.

8. Consent

Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent because the site cannot function securely without them, which the law permits. Analytics is limited to non-identifying aggregate measurement, and we honour opt-out signals as described above.

If our approach changes so that consent becomes required, we will ask for it before setting the cookie in question.

9. Changes to this policy

This policy is reviewed annually and whenever we add or remove a cookie. The review date at the top of the page reflects the current version. Related information is in our privacy policy.
